One of the biggest priorities of the Los Padres Forest Association (LPFA) heading into 2021 was to restore and maintain the network of trails on the north side of the Santa Ynez Mountain between Cold Spring and Murietta Divide.
Over the past couple months, we’ve led 6-7 projects on North Cold Spring trail working from Cold Spring Saddle to Forbush and then down towards the Mono Jungle. Our latest effort saw the LPFA Trail Crew spend a week working the most overgrown section of the trail from the powerlines down towards the Infinity Pool.
After much poison oak, sweat and cheers – we’re happy to report that section of trail is clear! We haven’t gotten to the lowest part below the Gibraltar Trail and we still need to work the Infamous Slide and a few narrow sections of tread but by all accounts the North Cold Spring hasn’t looked this good in probably decades.
Make sure to follow us on social media for updates from the other trail maintenance projects and volunteer opportunities. BigThanks to Southern California Edison, our awesome Trail Volunteers and the LPFA Trail Crew for all the support and hard work!
