Last night there was a welcome but unpleasant odor near the burn area. A pungent smell of wet ash, reassuring because it meant rain had washed it down San Antonio Creek and dampened hotspots to aid containment. This morning as if to give thanks to those crews spending this holiday rooting out each smouldering stump, snow! Looking up at La Cumbre Peak when clouds lifted, I noticed this Thanksgiving garnish around the old fire lookout.
