Long View

A friend told us every day during the pandemic has been Blursday, and life before covid is a fading dream. When we finally got the chance to safely fly again, these favorite scenes seemed far in the past. A long view of the harbor’s sheltering arms reminded us to take the long view if there’s another lockdown, and hold fast to memories of parties on East Beach below those clouds. Distant snowy Sierra Madre peaks recalled cocoa in a cozy cabin after a long hike with friends. As we still carefully limit close physical contact, the still low water level in Gibraltar Reservoir after strong rain reinforced the underlying feeling that everything is unusual.
