I was at CVS on State and Calle Laureles this morning around 10:00 am when the police swarmed the place looking for a barefoot woman who was inside the store wielding a knife.
Several cop cars showed up, customers were asked to leave the store, and several of the cops had guns out, but one in particular had what seemed like a paintball gun or rifle. As soon as he went into the store, many shots were fired.
Eventually, the cops got this woman out of the store and tackled her to the ground and restrained her somehow, handcuffs maybe. I’m not sure what happened after that but there was an ambulance there and I think they may have taken her to the hospital.
Several of the CVS employees, especially one older woman, was shaken up. I don’t think anyone was hurt.
Is there anything worse than a knife wielding woman in a CVS? Yikes!

Use a CVS cash register receipt as a lasso to bring her down.
Two homeless panhandling on either side of the Las Positas overpass yesterday. Both obviously mentally ill. Police are called and I don’t think they ever come. The encampment under there is huge. Everyone knows it’s there. As long as people give these people $ and the police/CHP allow them to panhandle on the off ramps, they will stay and their encampment will stay, endangering the whole community. It’s a sad situation for everyone, for the homeless and for the families who have invested hundreds of thousands to buy a home in that neighborhood.

If someone other than Cathy Murillo had become mayor, the homeless situation in SB would be MUCH worse. As she states on her CM for Assembly website, her areas of focus are: “…improving the lives of working families, making California climate resilient, promoting housing production that works for each community, transitioning from oil and gas development to renewable energy, expanding access to higher education, among other priorities. I am committed to working hard in both Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, and holding regular office hours in all corners of the District.” Basically, she has been, and is a Godsend.
Buzzword alert: pushing “working families” mean paying off the public sector unions who fund Murillo’s many campaigns.. We got rid of child labor, Cathy. So what is it about your overuse if the term “working families”. Solo adult workers don’t get your love too? But kiddies working off the books in these alleged “working families” do get your support?
