Two jet ski riders were rescued off the coast of Hollister Ranch, north of Goleta, on Thursday.
At 1:25 p.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to a report of a jet ski with two riders in distress and an 18-foot boat that capsized near the shore.
County Water Rescue teams discovered the two riders of the jet ski safely on shore without injuries.
The three passengers of the capsized boat were also able to return to shore without injuries.
Additionally, one surfer was reported missing in the area but was found walking on the beach and not in distress, according to Fire Captain Scott Safechuck.
Edhat reader Anna was the first to report theses incidents from emergency scanner traffic and stated the boat overturned and sunk off Government Point with air support assisting.
Edhat previously reported the body of a surfer was found in the ocean off Mesa Lane on Wednesday. Details have yet to be released on this incident.
On Thursday morning, four surfers were rescued by County firefighters off the coast of Isla Vista.
The National Weather Service issued several weather alerts this week that includes dangerous surf, life-threatening rip currents, and coastal flooding.
The weather service’s warning also included people stay out of the water due to these dangerous conditions.
FYI – Hollister Ranch is West of Goleta, not North.
