Is the Douglas Preserve an on-leash area for dogs or off-leash?
At the entrances there are signs stating dogs must be on leash when entering the preserve (see attached), but once inside there’s a separate sign stating dogs are ok to be off leash.
Most people I encounter have their dogs off leash the entire time, but what is the real ordinance here?
The preserve is off leash, but leashing your dog is required as you enter. The parking areas are not on site, so it’s important to have dogs leashed in the neighborhood and as you enter the park.
People too often park and open the doors to let their dogs run into the park off leash, I see it all the time, but often dogs will terrorize neighborhood cats or defecate along the neighboring sidewalks while their owners are distracted.
