The death of a Santa Barbara woman at Lake Nacimiento is under investigation.
Luz Maria Ruiz, 57, was riding in a tube behind a “personal watercraft” when she fell off. The incident took place on Sunday, July 9 near the lake’s dam, according to initial reports by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
A private boater, who is also an EMT, recovered the woman and began performing CPR, according to reports.
Park Rangers arrived and moved Ruiz to their patrol boat where she was taken to the main launch ramp at the Lake Nacimiento Resort.
While CPR was continued, Ruiz was pronounced dead.
The official cause of death has yet to be determined and an investigation is under way by Monterey County Park Rangers.
Bummer.
