Replacement of aging water mains at the rate of 6 miles of pipe per year, helps the City prevent water main breaks and unexpected service interruptions. This fall, construction activity will be a familiar sight in the neighborhoods around the Funk Zone as their water mains are replaced.
Just wish they would replace them with something other than carcinogenic PVC pipe.
When did they start doing this? 9 months from now as long as the stars and moon are aligned. Why do they have subcontractors do all the city work ? when the City of SB has all the best newest equipment and training (that we payed for) the equipment is better than the subcontractors
Well, the iron pipes they are replacing lasted, 75 to 100 years. Seems like a durable, non toxic material.
You are correct RHS but its important to note that the city’s leaders and managers do not work for the citizens of the city, or for the betterment of the city, they work for themselves and their cohorts. The results are a city whose finances are teetering on insolvency with a load of debt that your great grand kids will be paying off… Dont belive me? Just check with the State of California’s own data on city finances. https://www.auditor.ca.gov/bsa/cities_risk_index SB is listed as exposed and at risk. So what did we get for years and years of over spending and over taxing? Not much as you pointed out, but the city’s workers and so-called leaders have the very best medical plans and pensions that equals a 7 figure savings for you and me… So remember that next time the city (and especially the noodle-brained Mayor) begs for more money to pay for infrastructure or schools via more bonds and higher taxes and untold number of fee increases. These two faced wolves stole your grand kids money and they’re still at the door begging for more!
