Emergency officials responded to an injured paraglider near Montecito Peak late Sunday afternoon.
At 11:43 a.m., Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Search and Rescue, Los Padres National Forest, and Santa Barbara City Fire Department were alerted by an emergency locator beacon from the paraglider.
Crews arrived on scene at 12:32 p.m. with a helicopter that was used to hoist the male paraglider who sustained moderate injuries. The paraglider was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.

I hate it that irresponsible weekend warriors take inappropriate risks in dangerous weather conditions that put S&R and heli pilots lives in danger to rescue them when they fail.
