Several of us in the Rancho del Ciervo neighborhood have recently had scorpions in our houses and around the exterior of our houses.
Has anyone else had this problem, and any idea why all of a sudden we have scorpions in the area? Thanks

It all goes in cycles. Next year or the year after next, you probably won’t see a single scorpion. There is obviously an attractant in your area. Scorpions need moisture, so they’re going to gravitate toward damp places. Leaking water pipes are one attractant.
Scorpions are considered “beneficials” in the garden. They eat insects such as beetles and cockroaches and termites. If I were you, I would feel a bit touchy about any scorpions coming into my house —– but an easy fix for that is spraying a bit of lavender oil, peppermint oil or any type of citrus oil. Scorpions don’t like mint, citrus, lavender. Mix up a bottle of one of those oils, add some vodka (or witch hazel) and some water. (Since oil and water don’t mix, the vodka/witch hazel is there to help disperse the oil.) Spritz your scented oil and water around any places you think the scorpions might be using to access your home.
Please don’t kill any scorpions. They’re just trying to make a living and aren’t bent on harming you. Wait them out. They’ll soon find something better to do than to invade your space.
