Identity Released of Man Found on East Beach

The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Bureau has released the name of the man whose body washed up on East Beach last week.

Around 3:15 p.m. on April 19, Santa Barbara Police received a call from a paramedic in the area who was contacted by a beachgoer that discovered the body.

The paramedic attempted to resuscitate the man but determined he was deceased.

The County coroner revealed the man’s identity on Tuesday as 76-year-old Santa Barbara man Lawrence Russell Tanner.

The coroner is still investigating the cause and manner of death.

Santa Barbara Police state no foul play is suspected.
