Every year the I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival chooses a featured artist to create a centerpiece for the festival.
This year it’s Sharyn Chan from Goleta. She created an original concept of three angels flying around a depicted reflection of the Santa Barbara Mission.
Chan has been involved with I Madonnari since 2001 where she first learned about the ancient art form of street painting. She then began street painting in her hometown of Santa Barbara and has traveled all over the world participating in festivals and street painting.
In its 33rd year, I Madonnari is the oldest street painting festival in the United States modeled after a similar festival in Grazie di Curtatone, Italy.
The event runs through Monday and the artist’s work will be displayed at the Santa Barbara Mission for the next few weeks.
