It may come as no surprise to “Game of Thrones” fans that the newly released prequel, “House of the Dragon,” dominated the streaming charts this week.
According to Reelgood‘s Top 10 Titles for the week of August 18-24, the new HBO Max show follows the House Targaryen 200 years before “Game of Thrones.” HBO immediately approved the second season after the premiere episode delivered 10 million viewers overnight.
Next up is “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” on Disney+. The title is self-explanatory but it follows Jennifer Walters as she navigates the complicated life of a single, 30-something attorney who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered Hulk. Drama ensues.
Last week I mentioned the movie “Prey,” a prequel to the “Predator” series, fell to number three. Another prequel performing well among audiences is the horror movie “Orphan: First Kill” taking number four in its premiere week.
What is with all the prequels gaining popularity these days? A friend of a friend likes to say its the lack of creativity in Hollywood, so there’s one opinion for you.

What I’m Watching: I’m not always watching the latest and greatest as it’s released, sometimes it takes me a while be curious about a series. I recently started “For All Mankind” on Apple+. It’s a science fiction drama series focusing on “what would have happened if the global space race had never ended” and the Soviet Union beat the U.S. to the moon. I’m only one episode in, but so far I’m very intrigued.
