An elderly man sustained serious injuries after falling from a horse on Hollister Ranch Tuesday morning.
At 11:12 a.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters along with Search & Rescue, ground ambulance, and an Air Support Unit arrived at the ranch in Gaviota for a fall victim.
They located a male in his 70’s approximately 100 yards down a ravine. Due to the difficulty in accessing the victim, crews initiated a hoist operation and utilized the responding helicopter. The man was flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with critical injuries.
The horse was nowhere to be seen when the crews arrived.
Wow! Now that’s “elderly” seeing as I find out he’s 65. We’re talkin’ Geezerville here.
Oh no. I hope he recovers swiftly.
Anyone over 65 is considered elderly. Enjoy that social security and medi-care
I hope he doesn’t catch anything while in the hospital. I can’t think of a worse place to be right now.
