  1. At this point in this mess, as of the start of 2021, there have been 28-32 “homeless fires” in the area of varying degrees of magnitude. Given all factors in place, this is NOT going to end well.

  2. COASTWATCH, on a local basis, you can thank Food Not Bombs Isla Vista and Bonfire Collective for the welcome wagon duties. They’re the ones who wanted to make the tent city in People’s Park a permanent thing.
    By the way, their plan got thwarted, the parks board voted 3 to 1 last night to REMOVE the tent city, moveout day is June 1. It’s a good day in Isla Vista.
