TRAIL RESCUE: At about 11 a.m. Friday, Montecito firefighters assisted a hiker who was walking in the creekbed below the Cold Spring Trail and became stuck.
He was uninjured and able to continue on his hike.
Please stay on the trails & have a safe weekend!
Gawd…next probably a hiker will have to rescue one because a bush is in their way.
Oh dear, this is pretty bad. There should be a rule that you have to leave your cell phone at home when you go for a hike in the front country.
Maybe the Poison oak was too menacing. You never know.
What does ‘stuck’ mean?
Cars get stuck in snow or in sand, but what is being stuck mean when in a creek?
I was once going down stream and jumped to a sandy spot to avoid water, and the
sand was quicksnadish. Or fine sand from creekside. So i got stuck in it, and had to
remove foot from boot. Same happened when step into wet sucking clay near a
spring. And i not have a phone. Just a whistle.
ps. suggest that hikers give rescue groups a statement to be made public so readers
can understand what happened. and learn from it.
