Hiker Rescued at Inspiration Point

Update by Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue
May 2, 2020

Yesterday afternoon SBCSAR responded with SBC Fire and AMR to a report of a dehydrated hiker on the Cathedral Peak Trail. The hiker was located near the GPS coordinates obtained from his phone while contacting emergency services.

The subject was provided additional fluids and assessed for their condition and ability to hike. After resting for a short time, it was determined that air evacuation was not going to be needed and Fire & SAR teams hiked the subject out from his location and back down the trail.

Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue would like to remind those venturing onto the trails during this time to take plenty of water, food, a phone, sun protection, a map of the area and to hike within your ability and to stay on the trails.
