Construction Update Timeframe: September 2 – 8, 2018
*In observance of Labor Day, crews will not work on Monday, September 3rd.*
Nighttime Freeway Closures:
- Highway 101 will have the following closures between Linden and Bailard Avenues:
- Tuesday night, September 4th
- The northbound slow lane will close from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Then crews will switch and close the northbound fast lane from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.
- The southbound fast lane will close at 8:00 pm and reopen by 7:00 am.
- One lane will remain open in each direction during the closures.
- Wednesday and Thursday nights, September 5th – 6th
- The northbound and southbound Highway 101 fast lanes will be closed starting at 8:00 pm.
- The northbound fast lane will reopen by 5:00 am.
- The southbound fast lane will reopen by 7:00 am.
- One freeway lane will remain open in each direction during the lane closures.
- Tuesday night, September 4th
Linden Avenue Overcrossing
- Crews have finished up work on the new underground support (pile) in the median.
- Work continues on the side supports (abutments) for the new section of the overcrossing.
Casitas Pass Road Overcrossing
- Pile driving in the median and for the new overcrossing side supports is complete.
- Crews will begin removing dirt from the new median piles, install rebar cages, and will pour concrete. Work will occur nightly. Please see lane closures listed above.
- Wood form work and rebar installation continues for the side supports (abutments).
- Crews will place additional concrete safety barrier near the Casitas Pass Road Overcrossing. There will be flagmen in the area as needed throughout the week.
- New northbound Highway 101 on-ramp at Casitas Pass Road
- Grading and drainage work continues. Crews have placed additional concrete safety barrier and will remove old roadway base.
- Crews will move a water meter on Casitas Pass Road near the intersection with Cameo Road on Wednesday. Work will occur on both sides of Casitas Pass Road.
Highway 101
- Carpinteria Creek Bridges (northbound and southbound Highway 101)
- Northbound bridge
- Concrete has been poured for the bridge deck. Crews will install post tension steel cable through the bridge internal supports (stems) and then begin removing form and falsework.
- Southbound bridge
- Work continues on wood forms for the bridge deck and rebar installation. Then crews will pour concrete for the deck.
- Northbound bridge
- Northbound Highway 101 sound wall between Linden Avenue and Franklin Creek (Nipomo Drive)
- Sewer line relocation is finished.
- Electrical work throughout the project will be ongoing for new street lights and traffic signals.
- Drainage improvements continue along northbound Highway 101 under the Casitas Pass Overcrossing.
Via Real
- New utility infrastructure is being installed on Via Real and Vallecito Roads. Flagmen will be on Via Real and Vallecito Road as needed throughout the week.
- Frontier Communications will be running their cables in a couple weeks.
- Via Real will have one lane open between Casitas Pass and Vallecito Roads for the next few months.
Upcoming Work: fall/winter
- The Highway 101 southbound off-ramp at Casitas Pass Road will close for up to 1 month. Detour maps can be viewed at SBROADS.com.
