Firefighters have controlled a fire in the center divider of Highway 101 near Los Olivos on Friday afternoon.
The fire had jumped the freeway and burned approximately 15 acres before fire crews and an air support unit controlled it as it had the potential for 100 acres.
There were no injuries, no structures threatened, and crews are on the scene mopping up. The cause is under investigation.
California Highway Patrol had shut down Highway 101 for a period of time. One northbound lane remains open and southbound lanes are open.
Highway 101 northbound near SR-154 is closed due to a fire in the center divider.

I didn’t realize that the center divider was wide enough for a homeless camp.

Could have been someone tossing a cigarette or other fiery thing from their car, or something scraping the ground and throwing up sparks. Happens a lot. Hopefully they nip it so that we don’t see any problems, it’s pretty hot and windy today!

The real question is what’s that guy thinking in the video? Does he think he’s going to put the fire out with a shovel? Just leave it be and let the Fire Department handle it. Why put yourself in danger and block access to emergency vehicles?
