An emergency project to repair a section of Highway 1, one-half mile north of Jalama Road will result in a full closure from the Highway 1/101 interchange at Las Cruces to the Highway 1/246 interchange in Lompoc.
The full closure will take place on Wednesday, June 7 from 9 am to 3 pm.
The closure will allow crews to install a drainage culvert across Highway 1.
This work is part of the emergency embankment reconstruction project following the washout of the roadway on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
Travelers may detour to State Route 246 to travel between the Lompoc area and US 101 during this time.
Message and directional signs are in place to alert the traveling public. Please allow extra time during your commute.
The contractor for this $3 million emergency project is Granite Construction in Santa Barbara, CA.
Can we still get to Jalama from the south?
I think the closure is north of the J turn off.
So everyone from Lompoc and Santa Maria must go to one lane at Gaviota or go over the pass. work at home if you can
Santa Barbara is basically an island when the 3 roads that come in here have and problems. Hope more people than not are prepared for a real emergency, fire, earthquake, any other natural disasters. Please reach out to our local emergency services and get trained in CERT.
