A Santa Barbara County HazMat team responded to a liquid asphalt leak in Santa Maria on Saturday.
The incident took place at the Greka Energy Plant at 1660 Sinton Road. Approximately 30-35 Barrels of liquid asphalt was released from a large tank.
The HazMat team has stopped the leak and the asphalt is contained to the location of the leak.
There were no injuries reported and the cause is under investigation.
Yuck. Good to hear the company reported it and got it properly cleaned up!!
We drive on asphalt every day. Should we be worried?
LCP – not unless you live there where it leaked. It’s still toxic, whether we drive on it or not.
