Grand theft auto at the roundabout on East campus at Santa Barbara City College
An employee of the college was locking the fence where he parks his truck. While he was putting the lock back on the fence located behind the art department, a woman who was hanging out by the removable yellow poles that prevent vehicles from driving down to Pershing Park, swiftly jumped into the drivers seat and casually drove off.
All while there was a track meet and a wedding going at the campus Saturday afternoon just after 3 PM.
A witness stated the woman did not look homeless or disheveled in any way. She slowly drove away and there was no danger to all the kids walking around at the time of the track meet.
A witness mentioned that he believes the key fob has the capability of GPS tracking. So it is likely that the truck will be recovered.
Moral of the story is to never leave your vehicle running unattended even just for a second.
Brazen and out in the open-broad-daylight theft… KTLA News is reporting that all over Southern Cal there are thefts and burglaries being committed by “international theft rings…”
Anyone who would consider the possibility that a random, opportunistic joyrider thief is part of an organized foreign crime syndicate is several apples short of a pie.
Correction- Not KTLA , it was KABC/Los Angeles- “Burglaries in affluent SoCal areas are potentially part of crime ring” May 13th broadcast….
Spread that right-wing culture of fear!
Cultures of fear are everywhere in human life. It used to be called survival instinct.
I’ll give you a couple other “cultures of fear’ that developed within a rational framework and went too far into hyperbole.
Climate Change. Before you get angry, remember all the dire warnings.
School children would never see snow again in the UK. Hurricane season warnings that didn’t pan out. Some people in every group succumb to, and promulgate fear.
This is not a right wing vs left wing phenomenon and saying so just stifles honest discussion and drives people further apart
Cooperation with your fellow humans is much more conducive to survival than fear, or have you never grasped the concept of civilization?
It’s ignorance versus knowledge, and the right wing has been catering to ignorance for the last four decades. You appear to have swallowed their misinformation wholeheartedly.
I think blaming other peoples “ignorance” is a blissful experience that never ends well. Have you ever pondered why all of these these extremely enlightened societies in the Americas disappeared and the areas they once thrived in are now populated by people who are at best stone aged? Everyone’s crap stinks
The ignorant ones are not the ones you think
EDNEY – what ” extremly enlightened societies in the Americas” are you talking about? Where do we now have stone age people? A museum?
There appear to be several Faux News and social media suckers around who have a stone-age mentality, but nobody would grace them with the moniker “society”, at least not since the John Birch Society imploded.
Seems like an odd comment regarding climate change since we are not out of those woods yet and many of those things you mention could still come to pass. And Hurricanes? Yeah they have gotten much worse.
EDNEY – still very curious. Who are the “enlightened” people and who are the “stone aged” people who took over the areas the societies once thrived?
I’m the ring leader of the international theft ring for the central coast. I instructed my personal to steal #1Ferrari, #2 Lamborghini, #3 Porsche 911 and last but not least #4 the teachers mini van from city college!!!! Bahahhahah lol SMH!!!!
I left the employees name and profession out of the story on purpose—by the way. The situation is already humiliating.
If you realized how much crime is driven by cartels you’d shut your silly yap in favor of facts.
Umm, Cartels are Big Business level indusgtries. They likely don’t need to steal used vehicles. LoL
Cartels are wealthy people, they fly in in private jets. Fear mongers make itr sound like low-level-criminals are hopping the border. Maybe some are—who knows! Cartels are usually trained military organizations.
