It’s officially Arbor Week in the City of Goleta. [Tuesday] night, the Goleta City Council officially proclaimed March 7 – 14, 2023, as City of Goleta Arbor Week.
To recognize the special week, two trees were also planted at Stow Grove Park. Mayor Paula Perotte, Parks and Open Space Manager George Thomson, Public Tree Advisory Commission Chair Jessie Altstatt, Parks and Recreation Commission Chair Deborah Williams and Public Works Maintenance Supervisor Jorge Flores had the honor of planting the trees together.
Mayor Paula Perotte said, “Trees are not only good for the environment, but they also beautify our community and bring joy and spiritual renewal. All residents are urged to celebrate City of Goleta Arbor Week by planting and maintaining trees to promote the well-being of Goleta for years to come.”
Goleta is home to the world’s largest California sycamore and North America’s largest Australian willow. The Goleta Public Works team manages more than 14,000 publicly owned trees along our streets and parks.

And tree cutting! They took 3 trees off of my culdesac and several more from my immediate neighborhood. It was a very efficient and professional process and those trees were a hazard. Looking forward to seeing new trees planted soon!
