Fundraiser Created for Family Affected by Hit and Run

Family members have set up a fundraiser to help the four children who lost their parents in Sunday’s fatal hit and run collision.

Adolfo Corral and Mary Jane Becerra Corral, both 44 years old, were walking along Cathedral Oaks and Winchester Canyon in Goleta early Sunday evening when they were struck by a vehicle. The driver fled the scene and both Adolfo and Mary Jane were pronounced dead. The driver was found and arrested in Carpinteria later that evening.

The couple leaves behind four children, 20-year-old Azalea, 17-year-old Dahlia, 14-year-old Dominic, and 10-year-old Rose and several extended family members.

“They were two loving parents who left us much too soon. They left great impacts on the hearts of the people of this town,” wrote Azalea of her parents.

A GoFund Me account has been set up to help support their children and cover funeral costs. Donations can be made here.

Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) released a statement Monday morning announcing Adolfo was employed as their Equity, Diversity, and Cultural Competency Coordinator.

“This is understandably devastating for their family and loved ones and for our SBCC family, who will be profoundly grieving their loss. We are working with Human Resources to provide support on campus today for Faculty, Staff, and Students. There will be more information on that as it develops. For now, I am deeply sorry for the pain Adolfo and Mary Jane’s loss will hold for us,” wrote SBCC Superintendent/President, Dr. Utpal Goswami.
