Friday Morning Traffic Collisions

Around 9:00a.m. Friday a box truck and sedan collided on Highway 101 north in Carpinteria, just north of Linden Ave.

It’s on the right side of the road, the sedan is described as a gray Honda Accord.

Around the same time on Highway 101 north near Turnpike there was a vehicle fire. Unsure on the details about this one.

[Update on the Turnpike Fire: reader Eric called into edhat to report this took place around 9:00 a.m. He was one of the first on the scene who helped to put out the truck fire with multiple fire extinguishers. Sheriff responded to assist with traffic as County Fire fully put it out with water. ] Thank you Eric for providing additional information.

Also, earlier this morning around 3:45 a.m. there was a separate collision on SR-246 east of Lompoc. This was at the roundabout from 246 to Purisima Road.

A box truck, described by CHP as a 26-foot heavy duty freightliner, rolled over on the roadway.

A Spanish translator was requested, driver required help getting out of the vehicle. Unsure if injured but didn’t seem that way.

Tow truck asked for the roadway to be closed for 4 hours between Mission Gate and SR-246.

Roadway is still closed but expected to open before 11:00 a.m.
