Forward Progress Stopped in Lompoc Brush Fire

The forward progress of the fire has been stopped and all road closures have been lifted.

A vehicle fire spread to nearby brush starting a 20-acre fire south of Jalama Road on Monday.

At 2:59 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters received a report of a 1.5 acre brush-fire burning uphill with no wind at a slow rate of spread, although it had the potential for 10 acres.

Around 4:15 p.m. the County Fire Department reported the fire reached 20 acres with the potential for 50 acres. Fixed-wing tankers, a helicopter, and ground resources working the fire that now has a moderate rate of spread.

There are no structures threatened.

Highway 1 is closed between Highway 101 in Las Cruces and Highway 246 near Lompoc. Motorists may detour in both directions via Highway 246 between Buellton and Lompoc. No estimate for opening.
