Santa Barbara County District Attorney John T. Savrnoch announced Wednesday that the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office has filed a felony complaint against Peter Aibor Jeschke, a 50-year-old resident of Santa Barbara, California.
The four-count felony complaint alleges that the defendant committed two counts of Lewd or Lascivious Acts Upon a 15-year-old Child, in violation of Penal Code section 288(c)(1), and two
counts of Oral Copulation with a Child Under 16, in violation of Penal Code section 287(b)(2). The
defendant’s arraignment is scheduled for April 3, 2024 in Department 8 of the Santa Barbara Superior Court.
The charges stem from the defendant’s alleged abuse of Jane Doe, his tennis student, in 2000. Jane Doe was 15-years-old when she met the defendant, a then 26-year-old tennis instructor and coach in Santa Barbara and Montecito. The defendant allegedly engaged in numerous sexual acts with Jane Doe when she was 15 and 16-years-old. Jane Doe came forward to tell her story for the first time after remaining silent for over 20 years.
Sheriff’s Detectives arrested Jeschke on Friday, February 2, 2024, at approximately 9:40 a.m., at the tennis courts in the 1400-block of Park Place in Santa Barbara.
He is being held at the Main Jail on $100,000 bail.
Jeschke, a former tennis coach at Santa Barbara High School, was found guilty in 2009 for a variety of sex crimes that included having sex with minors and providing intoxicating substances. He was facing seven years in state prison but was instead sentenced by Judge Frank Ochoa to five years of probation.
Jeschke, a registered sex offender, was re-arrested in 2011 for failing to register his address with authorities and for failure to notify parents of his sex offender status before giving tennis lessons to minors.
After being found guilty of violating the terms of his parole in 2011, Judge Ochoa sentenced Jeschke to 7 years, 8 months in state prison and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
