Streets and areas of Santa Barbara have been closed due to flooding of local streets and businesses.
Around 8:45 a.m. Santa Barbara City Firefighters requested the State Street and Cota Street intersection be closed off to all motorists due to flooding. The intersection of State and Haley Street is also reportedly flooded.
At 9:30 a.m., CHP and Caltrans closed Highway 101 from Milpas to SR-150. Read more about this here.
Several Highway 101 underpasses have been closed. There is a barricade at the Carrillo underpass, as well as the Mission Street underpass.

The intersection of Bath and Pedregosa is completely flooded with water creeping towards homes. There is also a hard closure at Cathedral Oaks and Arundel for heaving flooding in Goleta.

Perhaps the critics could make suggestions as to how to prevent flooding so we will be “better prepared” and a downpour won’t overload our streets and creeks with water.
Drainage is the only thing that I can think of. That would mean more and larger culverts under roads and RR tracks. Not cheap by any means. I imagine that the Army Corp would like to cast cement on the creeks to allow them to run faster and not erode nearby properties.
City mandates property and homeowners pay for street improvements because collected tax money spent on pay raises, pensions, and now expanding kingdom. You benefit; I pay. This is a hot, maddening topic of property owners. Why do we have to individually pay for drainage and road improvements when City continuously increases taxes? We’re outnumbered in the ballot box. When we lack money to pay “Compassionate liberal” City Leaders cut off water or employ other tactics.
‘How to prevent flooding?’ You ask. Get City to provide services, and demand Council cut its payroll in half.
We need old, dysfunctional infrastructure replaced. It’s on President Trump’s to-do list but absent from the Congressional Priority List of Universal Income and Free to most Medical Care that is not a Constitutionsl Right. National debt will be wiped out by inflation. Flooding may be our source of free water.
It’s shocking how quickly our infrastructure is overloaded absolutely unbelievable. We are in big trouble if we get any real storms for the rest of this year. you would have thoughts that the office of emergency management with the last 12 months to prepare for this could have gotten us better prepared.
This doesn’t sound good. How stupid, to possibly drink and drive on a day like today… “Blood tech” can’t be good. ———————————————————————————————————-

? How is this not a “real” storm?
I guess you missed it, they redid Castillo last year just like Garden which was also open the whole time.
Your solution is more services, less staff? Maybe tell them to do more with less also.
