Five people were injured in a vehicle collision on Highway 101 southbound near Gaviota on Wednesday morning.
At 7:26 a.m., Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded with a ground ambulance and a CalStar air ambulance approximately one mile south of the Gaviota rest stop.
There were three patients who were green tagged with minor injuries, two denied medical treatment at the scene, and one red tag patient with critical injuries.
Highway 101 was shut down for approximately 15 minutes for all traffic causing extensive traffic backup in the area. It’s currently open.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of this incident.
