Five Robbery Suspects In Custody — Two Firearms Recovered
On Friday, May 17, 2019 at approximately 7:25 PM Santa Barbara Police Dispatch fielded a 911 call from a victim who was just robbed at gunpoint near East Mason Street and North Soledad Street in the Eastside Neighborhood of Santa Barbara.
The victim, who had been riding on a bicycle stated they were accosted by 5 Hispanic males, some of which brandished at least one firearm and threatened the victim by force to handover belongings. The subjects fled in a tan coup.
Multiple Patrol Officers saturated the area. One officer was flagged down by a witness who further identified the suspect vehicle. That officer caught up to a vehicle matching the description and initialized a high-risk stop near Milpas Street and Montecito Street.
Officers instructed each of the subjects to exit the vehicle one-by-one. A total of five subjects were taken into custody – three of which were juveniles. A search of the vehicle recovered two separate firearms.
Subsequently, the victim and witness of the robbery positively identified each of the subjects and the vehicle. Preliminary reports suggest that the assailants were from outside the area.
Santa Barbara Police are asking anyone with additional information to call 805-882-8900. You may remain anonymous.
The investigation remain ongoing.

Darn right, Roger. Thanks for the reports 🙂
Talk about going after the little fish. Why target some dude on a bicycle? Don’t you wonder?
It’s called “practice.”
3 Are juveniles 2 are adults.
Armed robbers from out of our area coming up here to threaten us in broad daylight ! That is bold …. and STUPID. … A big THANK YOU to our SBPD Officers who were right on top of it, protecting us and letting these gang bangers know that Santa Barbara is not easy pickings.
New message needs to come out of Santa Barbara: Zero tolerance.. Want to break the law, go somewhere else. End of message.
Is it established they are not local residents?
Down here they are from Lompoc..
Salud Carbajal needs to work on cleaning up his “armpit of Santa Barbara County”. There are federal drug laws being violated, creating a huge mess in Lompoc.
Possibly our first Latina mayor, Cathy Murillo, could do a public service announcement in Spanish and English to warn off would-be criminals who want to do harm in our community. I think it would go a long way coming from the top.
