Santa Barbara Mayor Cathy Murillo partnered with Cycle MAYnia for the first-ever “Mayor’s Ride,” a bicycle ride from City Hall to Stearn’s Wharf.
Joined by a group of bike enthusiasts, Mayor Murillo started at her City Hall office before heading down State Street. The group had many options for a quick lunch at Stearns Wharf before biking back up to City Hall. Some participants chose to end the event at McConnell’s or Wine Therapy, both on State Street.
Cycle MAYnia stated they hope this becomes an annual event as Mayor told the crowd she wants to and plans to ride her bike to City Hall periodically, and encourages others to do the same.
It’s downhill from the City Hall steps to the wharf. Probably didn’t have to pedal once.
Oh dear lord. Hopefully the crew and mayor took note of the myriad vacant storefronts on State as they rode past.
As usual a snarky remark without even reading the article where it clearly states that she rode back to City Hall.
This is all part of her agenda to turn the streets into bike blvds.
Mayor is just polishing up her “green” creds to mask her real political agenda- which is to pander the city employee unions who put her in office. She wants to distract you with this show event. Murillo promised well over a year ago she would ride her bike to city hall, when she voted to take away the Micheltorena Street parking. Never happened, at least not while the cameras were running.
Cathy will do anything to be in the news. She’s everywhere there is a news story. People think she’s doing things for the City because her name appears in an article. They would be wrong. What exactly has she done? What issue has she championed at City Hall? What has she done for the Westside? No one can answer these questions. Other’s do the heavy lifting. Other’s take care of the needs of “her District.” Other’s put forth Agenda item’s to help residents and the City. The last Agenda item she put forth was an item to remove Councilmember Jason Dominguez as the representative for SBCAG. Murrillo broke the City’s laws to do it and got the City sued.
Another photo op for Cathy. Voters shop look into how she votes and what she does to delay votes on projects her constituents want. It’s all about donors for Cathy. Special interest groups, developers, unions and PACs. Voter’s though won’t do the work. Sad.
Sounds like a good idea.
Uh-Oh!! Everyone up against the wall!! The grammar police are here! Someone needs a hobby.
Madame Mayor: Your city is so riddled with distracted drivers and rotten potholes, any greater use of bicycles is a very dangerous recommendation. Look down at the pavement instead of up at the cameras.
