Firefighters Respond to Carport Fire in Lompoc

Lompoc City Firefighters tackled a carport fire next to an apartment complex on Thursday evening.

Around 8:00 p.m., fire crews responded to reports of a fire in the 700 block of North 3rd Street and found a fully-involved carport threatening a nearby apartment complex.

The fire was knocked down in approximately 10 minutes and did not affect the apartment complex, no injuries were reported. The carport and vehicle inside sustained extensive damage.

Originally it was reported as a car fire that spread to the nearby carport, but additional reports state it may be a trash fire that spread. The official cause is under investigation.
