Santa Barbara City firefighters responded to a deck fire at a vacant downtown Santa Barbara restaurant on New Year’s Eve.
Around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, crews arrived at 129 E. Anapamu for reports of a structure fire. Crews found heavy smoke and discovered a fire under the restaurant’s deck.
The location is the former home of the Little Door restaurant that closed earlier this year. It’s been vacant ever since.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Okay, that’s it, raze the place and exorcise it!! No restaurant can make it there. Woo woo weird bad news.
When the homeless cause a fire like this, is it insured? Are they arrested for arson? What does this do for the fire insurance rates for nearby businesses/residences? Do Santa Barbara residents pay higher rates because of the threat of fires because of homeless encampments all over the community?
Just shows how long you’ve lived here. That particular location has had at least two restaurants and a bakery that did very well for many many years.
Insurance scam ? They’ve been trying to sell for a while ..
Yes, sometimes, go up, yes. If fires occur, insurance companies raise their rates to maintain the same level of profit. That’s how they work.
