Two jets flew over the Mesa a few moments ago (11:30) and again (1145). Any ideas on what is going on? I’m hoping it’s something innocent.

Does anyone know anything about the 2 very loud jets that went over downtown at 11:35ish this morning?

What was that? I’m sure you are getting lots of questions about what was flying over us around 11:30 am that was really loud and shook my house up here on the Mesa!
Yes, I was downtown and in REI. Thought the end was here
Military fighter plane. Either two, or one circling around. Couldn’t read any markings or determine the type What WAS obvious: flying only a few hundred feet over the West Mesa neighborhoods and, while flying directly over my backyard made a quarter-barrel roll.
Whatever the guy was doing, the noise was deafening and most likely in violation of FAA rules.
I enjoyed that please feel free to come back and do that anytime…
I wish the military would do MORE F-18 , B-2 and Attack Helicopter flyovers!
it was VERY cool – I saw them quickly quick by San Marcos high school.
F-18s?
MIGs….
since no one seemed to answer the question, why they are here.
they frequently refuel at our airport while on training mission off the coast. no need to go into the bomb shelter yet
Shock and awe – the laxative that works.
They were F-22 Raptors from the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma Arizona.
It’s fairly common for military pilots to do a training run to their hometown if possible. They can buzz the town or maybe even land and spend a little time with the family. Usually, they leave with a full military power takeoff, an exit with flair, to say the least!
Yep. When prez and N. Korea really got into the insults, I looked into protection. In light of Vandenberg and all.
Nuke map, Vandenberg:

Except the USMC has no F-22 aircraft. Maybe F-35B, but I didn’t see them.
In peacetime civil airspace, military aircraft would fly with transponders on for identification and radar tracking. Stealthiness wouldn’t be a factor.
I love the U.S.military protecting our country, right here from Vandenberg. Bravo!
of course you didn’t see them, they’re stealth!
