Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that another individual has been arrested and charged in connection with the June 1, 2019 homicide of twenty-nine year old Alberto Torres. The homicide occurred on Cacique Street, located on the Eastside of Santa Barbara. Twenty-three year old Alejandro De La Torre has been charged with Accessory to Murder with a gang enhancement and committing a serious felony offense while on felony probation. Mr. De La Torre is scheduled to be arraigned today in Department 8 of the Santa Barbara Superior Court. The case will be prosecuted by Senior Deputy District Attorney Kimberly Siegel in the District Attorney’s gang prosecutions unit.
Angel Barajas (age 31), Igor Ortiz (age 19), Adelain Ibarra (age 20), and Alondra Ochoa (age 18) have been charged with various felonies related to the murder of Alberto Torres. They have been arraigned and a preliminary hearing setting is scheduled to occur in Department 1, the Honorable James Herman presiding on August 14, 2019. The juvenile charged in this case will remain within the jurisdiction of the juvenile court for the time being. This investigation remains ongoing.
