The Santa Barbara Police Department Property Crimes Detective Unit arrested 62-year-old Santa Barbara resident Gail Barroca today for charges of 368(e)(1) PC Financial Elder Abuse by Caretaker, 459 PC Commercial Burglary, 470 PC Forgery, and 530.5 PC Fraudulent Usage of Personal Identifying Information. Barroca attempted to fraudulently steal in excess of $60,000.
The Santa Barbara Police Department would kindly like to remind our community to be watchful over our elder population as they are at risk for financial abuse as well as other abuses; which have been on the rise in recent years. If you suspect elder abuse, please contact your local law enforcement agency to make a report.
