Female Body Found Near Carpinteria Railroad Tracks

The body of an adult female was found near the railroad tracks in Carpinteria on Monday evening.

At approximately 5:45 pm, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputies located the decomposed body near the train tracks parallel to Highway 101 in the 2800 block of Carpinteria Avenue. The body was discovered by a passerby, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office is conducting an investigation to make a positive identification and determine the cause of death. At this point, the Coroner’s Office has determined that the decedent is an adult female. At this point in the investigation, there does not appear to be any signs of foul play.
