Fatal Highway 135 Collision Monday Night

One person is dead following a head-on collision near Santa Maria on Monday evening.

At 6:50 p.m. Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to Highway 135 southbound, south of Clark Ave, for a reported traffic collision.

Upon arrival, crews discovered the solo occupant of one vehicle, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

An adult female in the second vehicle sustained serious injuries and required extrication. 

A Calstar helicopter transported the patient to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for Treatment. Their current condition is unknown.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
