One person has died during a head-on traffic collision on Highway 1 just north of Highway 101 Friday evening.
At 7:28 p.m. Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a vehicle accident approximately 5.5 miles north of Highway 101. Upon arrival crews found two vehicles had collided head-on collision.
In one vehicle was a pickup with a male driver of an unknown age who died on the scene. In the other vehicle, a Honda sedan, had a male occupant of an unknown age who suffered major injuries. The Jaws of Life was required to extricate him from the vehicle. He was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
CHP is investigating this incident.

I heard what might have happened and it wasn’t texting I’m not going to say because right now it’s a rumor as far as I’m concerned…
According to the CHP the driver of the Honda was DUI and speeding.
Just to clarify, this was listed as Buellton area CHP responding as there is no Buellton HWY 1 and of course Jalama Rd just south of Lompoc.
I post what I read or hear just to clarify that.
