The Santa Barbara County South Coast, including the cities of Santa Barbara, Montecito, and Carpinteria, has been issued an excessive heat watch.
The alert was issued by The National Weather Service, remains in full effect from Thursday morning until Saturday evening, with temperatures ranging from 96 to 103 degrees in the foothills to between 85 and 95 degrees across the coast. Overnight low temperatures will remain in the the 70s to lower 80s across the foothills.
Very high temperatures may create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Temperatures inside vehicles, even if the windows are partially open, can quickly rise to life-threatening levels. The combination of gusty sundowner winds along with hot and dry conditions will bring elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions.
