Local emergency personnel checked on elderly residents in a Solvang mobile home park after a power outage cut off air conditioning in triple digit heat on Sunday.

Santa Barbara County firefighters and Search & Rescue teams responded just before 1:00 p.m. to the 1400 block of Fjord Drive in Solvang after receiving calls from concerned residents. A widespread power outage in the Santa Ynez Valley affected many elderly residents of the Rancho Santa Ynez Mobile Home Estates.

Temperatures reached over 100 degrees with more than 35% humidity.

Crews worked together knocking on 162 homes to make sure residents were ok.

The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians loaned a large bus with air conditioning that was used as a cooling station for anyone that needed it.

PG&E is on scene to get the power restored. No injuries were reported.
