  1. 1700 businesses in the entire “downtown” area and also within the ‘city limits’ which extends to the 154, all the way downtown and into Coast Village road.
Downtown itself doesnt have 1700 businesses
hmmm, unless they are counting every business (non retail and private firms, etc). I work on State and Carrillo, and I can say, just now looking out my window….there is very little downtown worth coming to now. Yay Marshalls and tghe 99C store, a dozen places to get coffee and bobas and over priced touristy diners….

    • True. that seems incorrect. They only cite 1400 business and associate members in their outreach information. ( The borders of “historic downtown Santa Barbara” extend to Chapala and Anacapa; not just State Street) but that was information from 2 years ago, so they may have added more. 300 more? doubtful.
