District Attorney Files Felony Charges Against Two People Suspected of Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision

Santa Barbara County District Attorney John T. Savrnoch announced that two people have been charged in connection with the hit-and-run death of a motor scooter rider, Dane Angus, which occurred in the early morning of February 24, 2024.

Salvador Jimenez, a 34-year old resident of Santa Barbara, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a felony, as well as driving with a suspended or revoked license causing injury, a misdemeanor.

Estefani Guerrero, a 26-year old resident of Santa Barbara, is charged with being an accessory after the fact, a felony, as well as concealing or destroying evidence, a misdemeanor.

Defendant Jimenez was arraigned on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 and entered a plea of not guilty as to each charge against him. Jimenez is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.

Defendant Guerrero bailed out of custody after her arrest and is scheduled to be arraigned in the Santa Barbara Superior Court on April 25, 2024.

The case has been assigned to the Honorable Pauline Maxwell in Department 2 of the Santa Barbara Superior Court. Defendant Jimenez’ case is scheduled for Preliminary Hearing Setting, as well as a bail hearing, on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Who runs over someone and proceeds to drag him an entire city block killing him, leaving their vehicle, not calling 911 and then justs ghosts the entire situation. These people are both screwed, bail or not, jailtime longtime. Then they plead not guilty, the car didn’t drive itself on top of someone and drag them without stopping for hundreds of feet. No one else did it, you did it, then the girlfriend is going to try to get out of it. Well she was there too and didnt call for help. These people ought to be ashamed of themselves. Who knows what they were thinking after it happened. But come on, where’s the respect for human life and general deceny. Be better humans.
