All California State Universities plan to continue virtual learning and cancel in-person courses for the fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

An announcement was made Tuesday by CSU Chancellor Timothy White and will affect all 23 universities, including Cal Poly and Channel Islands campuses.

“This virtual planning approach for the next academic year is necessary because of the evolving data surrounding the progression of COVID-19,” White said while mentioning health expert’s prediction of a second wave this fall.

CSU campuses previously cancelled graduation ceremonies and transitioned to virtual learning in March.

The UC-system is expected to make a decision next month but proposed three likely scenarios: full remote instruction in the fall, in-person classes with restrictions, or returning to normal operations.
