On June 18, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) endorsed recommendations that all children six months through five years should receive a COVID-19 vaccine. This announcement follows the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) authorization of the pediatric vaccine last week. The Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup has also approved these recommendations. With this authorization, approximately 27,900 children under the age of five are now eligible to be vaccinated in Santa Barbara County. All children, including children who have already had COVID-19, should get vaccinated. Vaccines are expected to arrive locally as early as this week.
Children under five years of age may receive one-tenth of the adult dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in a three-shot series. Alternatively, children five years of age and younger may receive one-quarter of the adult dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in a two-shot series. Smaller needles, designed specifically for children, are used for this age group. COVID-19 vaccine dosage does not vary by patient weight but by age on the day of vaccination.
According to the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup, since March 2020 approximately 2,000,000 cases of COVID-19 have occurred among those less than five years of age in the U.S, resulting in approximately 20,000 hospitalizations and approximately 200 deaths, and that there have been a disproportionate number of COVID-19-related hospitalizations and deaths among African-American, Hispanic-Latino and Native American children in this age group. Completion of either vaccine series produced antibody levels similar to those achieved in individuals ages 18 -25 years for Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and 16 – 24 years for Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, respectively. Observed vaccine reactions among infants ages six – 12 months and children ages one through five years were consistent with reactions to other vaccines routinely recommended for use in these age groups.
Distribution of pediatric vaccinations for these younger children has started across the country, and will be available locally at pediatric practices, pharmacies, and Federally Qualified Health Centers. Children in this younger age group can be vaccinated with whichever vaccine is available, either Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech.
Parents should check in with their children’s pediatrician about vaccine availability. Parents can also visit https://myturn.ca.gov/ to see where vaccines for children are available.
WITHOUT condescension, insults, or other ad hominen attacks, and preferably from someone experienced in research, could someone please help explain whether or not the concerns this Dr. brings up regarding Pfizers pediatric study are valid, or not, and why? Particularly to claim it’s “effective” when the end results was 3 covid positives in the vaccinated group vs. 7 in the placebo , after throwing out all who tested positive between the 1st shot and a few weeks after the 3rd shot (if included it would be 254 positives in vaccine group and 184 in placebo). Included in the discarded cases were 12 cases of kids who got covid twice, of which 11 were in the vaccinated group and 1 in the placebo.____ Please educate me (without insults)!____ https://drjessesantiano.com/dr-clare-craig-exposes-the-twisted-pfizer-covid-trial-for-babies-and-young-children/
Jesus Santiano is a renowned antivax quack pushing ivermectin, “herbalist” medicine, and pentagon biolabs in Ukraine conspiracy nonsense. Anyone who considers him a reputable source has an amazingly tiny set of critical thinking skills.
Did facts hurt your feelings on the other thread?
What is a credential doctor? Fixes your false ID?
Anyway, you must think he’s a reputable source to feel insulted. That’s on you for believing bullpuckey.
Stop it SacJon, I think the facts hurt his feelings. As Melania once said, “Be best, don’t be a cyberbully and have an affair with a married man after overstaying your work visa.”
Jesus Santiano is a male. But, getting facts right isn’t part of your portfolio.
Let’s see how your reasoning goes:
Someone who pitches harmfully false information about a given subject, and only false information, endorses a link to another source on the same subject, and you think that secondary source is reputable?
This is what passes for critical thinking in your world?
Here’s a clue: She is just as full of bullpuckey as he is.
again, the vaccine is NOT a cure. you will get the virus, but you will not get as sick as without the vaccine.
the concerns raised by what? that its not a cure and you can get sick ( we ALL have known that ), but just wont get REALLY sick ( again well known ). but why do I feel like a broken record all the sudden?
hope the your “real truth” investigation includes the replies answering this. its a great start
PSTARSR – don’t bother, Voice thinks the vaccine is a “treatment” like Paxlovid used after infection.
Pstar, you should read more about the pediatric trial, which primary objective wasn’t even efficacy but safety. They have no data that shows it actually keeps kids out of the hospital (not that many kids were going to the hospital for covid anway), it is based solely on lab work. That is a fact. Please read. You all are way to quick to pass judgement on anything that might contradict your preconceived beliefs.
Reading more bullpuckey doesn’t change its nature.
If I was a parent right now, as a double vaxxed and boostered person, I’d weigh the odds. I’d rather not vaccinate my children against something that unicorn level ofrarely affects children. Family on both sides have strong immune systems. If we were to change our minds, I’d do it in consultation with our childs Doctor. The decision on the grandkids is totally in their parents hands. I support them either way.
This isn’t a clearly necessary vaccination for children under 12 much less under 5
I’m going to have to do some real truthful investigation before I give this to my baby for sure too much unknown.
It turns out that a material called graphene oxide has been widely studied and tested in the biomedical industry — and its presence in the experimental COVID vaccines may explain the sudden increase in deadly blood clots around the world.
We vaccinated our 9 y.o., but if I had a 1-5 y.o. no way it vaccinate them.
Classic Edhat… You “all” are crazy. Voice, there’s no way, no matter what you write, that there’s not going to be insults or trolling.
Yeah, the vax is not a cure, but it does have possible very serious side effects. We were first in line when it was “our turn”. My wife and I got them as did our family. I’m still dealing with the life-threatening effects and am not allowed to get boosters. No freaking way am I giving them to my kids if they were little! Especially now when we’re not all scared. Seriously don’t get who would inject their toddler with something they don’t need at this point anyway.
“WITHOUT condescension” – so unlike any of your comments. Got it. “Rules for thee, not for me.” Isn’t that your favorite little saying?
I posted this question(s) here seriously in pursuit of additional information/clarification and see if what was stated is in fact true, does it concern anyone else. Chillin and Sac, you two posted to insult and make jabs, bravo.
Where did I insult you? You come in demanding things of others that you yourself refuse to do. FACT. No insult, no jab. Just fact and look at your cry wolf now.
Anon @ 7:59 with the ad hominem attack,: Jesus Santiano, who happens to be a credential doctor regardless of how you feel about that doctors particular opinions, is NOT the Dr. who brought up the trials concerns in the piece you didn’t bother to read before replying to it. Also, please understand the difference between US funded bio-weapons labs in Ukraine (a ‘conspiracy theory’, for now anyway) and biological/pathological laboratories that the US provides financial assistance and collaborates with (fact, not a conspiracy theory).
That’s definitely a jab Sac. Again, I posted here looking for information/clarification.
“Rules for thee….”
Obviously not.
I fully believe in necessary vaccines.
12:16am – what vow? I said I’d ease off the back and forths with Voice and I have. I never said I’d stop mentioning him or responding when he’s off the rails, just not engaging in the all day back and forth crap we used to do.
@12:58 Are we talking about a different virus now, because covid is hardly a deadly pathogen to young kids. Wearing helmets in cars would literally save more pediatric lives than the pediatric covid shot. Other than the graphene oxide stuff, what is anti-science here? Digging into the details of the Pfizer pediatric trial, the trial design seems rather anti-science and pro-get these shots approved so we can make more $$$$$.
You have to be a complete fool to let antivax, antiscience FUD influence you to the point where you endanger your children by not protecting them from a potentially deadly pathogen.
