Doesn’t anyone know what’s being burned on Mondays and Tuesdays in the Montecito mountains and also in Carpinteria? I’ve been seeing these smoke columns recently and wonder if there’s health hazard with the controlled burns?

Geeez, what SNOWFLAKES we have become as a society…! Santa Barbara , back in the 1950’s and before, would have WEEKLY burn days in the front country where residents were told not to hang laundry out to dry…
Our front and backcountry NEEDS to be burned out to prevent these massive conflagrations when there is a fire. Get over yourselves people and put things into the big picture, not just YOUR micro-world….
COASTWATCH – “snowflakes” is such a silly term. Why do people who are too afraid to leave the house without their guns, enjoy and relish in calling people “snowflakes” if they have any concern for the environment, civil rights, etc? Who are really the delicate and fragile folks?
COASTWATCH: in principle I agree with you but why do you have to be such a rick about it? You know the definition of a snowflake? Someone who is easily triggered… and you seem to have fallen into that category here.
less of a health hazard than a prolonged wildfire burning people’s homes.
There are those (myself excluded) who maintain that any smoke is bad, including campfires and BBQ’s. That being said, the West was designed to burn and this smoke pales when compared to the Thomas fire. If you are sensitive you may want to stay indoors as much as possible until the burns are complete.
