Conjunction Of The Month

By Stargazer Ron

At dusk on Saturday, October 9, clear skies in Santa Barbara revealed the arresting conjunction of the four-day-old crescent Moon shining only 2.5 degrees away from brilliant Venus. Note the earthshine illuminating the remainder of the Moon. They are both situated in the constellation Scorpio so that’s the red giant star Antares just above and to the right of Venus.
