Community Help Needed to Identify Auto Theft Suspect

Source: Santa Maria Police Department

The Santa Maria Police Department is seeking help from the community to identify a suspect who led SMPD officers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle and put the community in his path in danger. Late in the evening on Tuesday, August 7th, SMPD officers lost sight of the suspect during the pursuit, but located the vehicle after the driver abandoned it.

Officers backtracked and located a video surveillance photograph of the suspect in a convenience store. A witness observed a person fleeing from the vehicle who matched the description of the person in the photograph.

We are confident the suspect will be identified with help from our community. Information can be called in anonymously to dispatch at (805) 928-3781 ext. 2277.
