Community Help May Save Old Spanish Town in Montecito

By John Palminteri

Property owners in a sometimes forgotten area of Montecito tucked off Highway 192 west of Hot Springs Road are having issues rebounding from the January 9 disaster. It was called Old Spanish Town for years because of its rich history connected to the early settlers there.  Many of the aging structures are shattered and costs to remove the debris and possibly rebuild, are mounting. Community funding has been requested by one neighbor who has been stepping up to help on his own time.
