At the intersection of W. Carrillo Street and Kenwood Road, this newly installed sign has an egregious spelling error.
Carrillo has two “r’s.” Guess the City lost this spelling bee.

Wonder how that works? Was that an attempt tp abbrvieate? What would Carrillo look like abbreviated??
If they can fit Micheltorena on a sign (and they do), they can fit Carrillo. Simply “typo,” I suspect. Original poster, will you report it to the city?

GETOFF @5:16 – At last, something meaningful for you to bitch about.
Hey at least it’s consistent as looking on Google maps street view (showing Dec 2022), both sides of that sign have the same[incorect] spelling. Although if you change the date to the next closest (May 2019 w/the biker cutting the corner on to Kenwood looking at the sign from Kenwood) it’s spelled correctly. Choosing the Carrillo view you can see it still correct (Feb 2021), although it does look like it’s in need of replacement in that view .
I suggest it is ‘egregious’ to say that this mistake is ‘egregious.’ It is a typo of sorts and certainly not “outstandingly bad; shocking” as the word is defined. What may be at least bad is the ‘gotcha’ nature of this posting. I wonder if the mistake was brought to the city’s attention by the author or was it more important to post it so we can tsk tsk tsk?
One synonym for egregious is also “shameful.” It is a shame this mistake occurred. But I’m glad it was brought to light. I, for one, am not tsk, tsk, tsking. I am thinking, “Geez. I wonder if I would have noticed this?” Kudos to the “Edhat Reader” for posting and making me (and others?) smile.
Minibeast, what about an error makes you smile? Some sense of superiority, as though you have never goofed? This is just a blip and not worthy of such smugness.
One of the old cement imprints on corner sidewalks in our ‘hood says, “PEDERGOSA”. Probably poured in the ’20s. SH
A few years ago the City mis-spelled Stanwood Drive on a new street sign. Perhaps the sign department needs a spell checker?
Or the city employee who provided the information and did the proof reading needs to go back to school.
Going back to school at SB Unified isn’t going to help “Carillo” vs. “Carrillo” as this level of misspelling is well within the established accepted standard of 48% proficient
Did I get downvoted for stating the fact, or was it because the fact doesn’t support the narrative?
Are you happy that our schools turn out graduates who can only spell to 48% proficiency?
I cannot say for certain that whomever misspelled Carrillo as Carillo is a graduate of a local high school, but I can say they did perform to the 48% standard. They may even have attended SBCC or equal
It is always just a blip when it is other peoples (taxpayer) money. If I spelled your mailbox signage wrong, you’d probably get indignant and demand recompense. Would I be in the right to send you back a note telling you it is just a blip, get over your smug self?
